The regional pre-selection of the FameLab Timișoara contest will take place at the Politehnica University of Timișoara, on April 12, 2019, starting at 11 a.m., in the Polyvalent Hall in the UPT Library building (Blvd. Vasile Parvan No. 2B). FameLab 2019, the UK's leading international public science communication competition, is open to all students and researchers over the age of 19 studying or working in engineering, medicine, technology, biology, chemistry, physics or mathematics.

Each FameLab contestant must present at most 3 minutes a science topic of your choice, and the presentation must be entertaining, original, scientifically rigorous, and engaging to the lay audience. Competitors' presentations are evaluated by a jury based on three criteria: content, clarity and charisma.

Participation in the regional selections within the FameLab 2019 competition takes place during the selection events that will take place during April, in the cities of Bucharest, Sibiu, Timișoara, Târgu Mureș and Lași.

You can find details about the venues and scheduling of the selection events on the project page on the British Council Romania website:

Following the pre-selections, the contestants will be selected for the national final, who will also benefit from a communication masterclass supported by specialists from Great Britain and Romania.

The grand prize for the winner of FameLab Romania is a week in the UK, at the Cheltenham Science Festival, where he will participate in the FameLab International final alongside winners from 29 other countries.

In addition, the representative of FameLab Romania in the international final will also benefit from a prize of 500 euros granted by the Hermann Oberth Education and Science Association, a 10-year partner of the FameLab competition.
