The regional preselection of the FameLab Timisoara contest will take place at the Polytechnic University of Timisoara, on April 12, 2019, starting with 11 o'clock, in the Polyvalent Hall in the UPT Library building (Blvd. Vasile Parvan No. 2B). FameLab 2019, the most important international science competition for the public, with British funding, is open to all students and researchers over 19 years of age studying or working in engineering, medicine, technology, biology, chemistry, physics or mathematics.

Each FameLab competitor must present at most 3 minutes a science subject of your choice, and the presentation must be fun, original, have scientific rigor and capture the attention of the uninformed public. Competitors' presentations are evaluated by a jury based on three criteria: content, clarity and charisma.

The participation in the regional selections within the FameLab 2019 competition is made within the selection events that will take place during April, in the cities of Bucharest, Sibiu, Timisoara, Targu Mures and lasi.

Details about the venues and the scheduling of the selection events can be found on the project page on the British Council Romania website:

Following the pre-selections, the competitors will be selected for national final, which will also benefit from a communication masterclass given by specialists from Great Britain and Romania.

The big prize for the winner of FameLab Romania is a week in the UK, at the Cheltenham Science Festival, where he will participate in the FameLab International final together with winners from 29 other countries.

In addition, the representative of FameLab Romania in the international final will also benefit from a prize of 500 euros granted by the Association for Education and Science Hermann Oberth, 10-year partner of the FameLab competition.
