The regional preselection of the FameLab Timisoara contest will take place at the Politehnica University of Timisoara, on March 30, 2018, starting at 10 a.m., in the Polyvalent Hall in the UPT Library building (Blvd. Vasile Parvan No. 2B). FameLab 2018, the most important international science communication competition for the public, with British funding, is open to young people between the ages of 21 and 40, who study or work in the field of engineering, medicine, technology, biology, chemistry, physics or mathematics.

Competitors choose a topic from their field of specialization and present it in front of a jury made up of scientific and media personalities, in front of an audience.

Participation in the regional selections within the FameLab 2018 competition is done by supporting a 3-minute presentation during the selection events that will take place during the months of March and April, in the cities of Bucharest, Cluj, Timisoara, Targu Mures and Lasi. You can find details about the venues and scheduling of the selection events on the project page on the British Council Romania website:

The winners of the preselections will be invited to participate in a masterclass organized between April 28-29, to improve essential media communication and presentation skills. The national final will take place in Bucharest, in the last week of May.

Competitors must give their presentations in the Romanian language, but they must master English at an advanced level to be able to participate in the training and, in the event of winning the competition, in the final in England.

The deadline for sending applications is March 28, 2018. More details can be found in the presentation attached to this article:
