Launch of the StartUPT project
Context
In order to launch the project – StartUPT – Innotech Student Grants for student entrepreneurs through the StartUPT program, The Politehnica University of Timișoara as a beneficiary, together with fundoni-structurale.ro as a partner, organized on February 2, 2022 an online event to inform the target group about the project's initiatives, which was followed by a series of model presentations about other successful student projects and an open question session from the participants.
This event was attended by representatives of the Politehnica University of Timișoara, representatives from fondu-structurale.ro, as well as hundreds of students interested in this initiative.
The objective of the event
The main purpose of the event was – to inform the target group about entrepreneurship training through ANC certified entrepreneurial training courses for at least 341 students, masters and PhD students from any university in the Western Region of Romania (minimum second year of bachelor's degree), who have domicile/residence in Romania and who want to establish a start-up in the future in one of the less developed regions of Romania, start-up which to operate in one of the economic sectors with competitive potential from us.
Entrepreneurship training courses will be online and will use interactive tools, case studies and synchronous sessions. At the end of the course, students will take the exam and get ANC certification in "Entrepreneurial skills".
Afterwards, learners can enter the business plan competition to be among those 26 entrepreneurs who will receive up to 60,000 euros for their business.
They will be supported through simulated enterprise activities, personalized services by mentoring in entrepreneurship and digital innovation, through internships in companies with similar activity and participation in business schools.
Through frequently asked questions addressed during the event are:
Until when can we enroll in the StartUPT entrepreneurial skills course? Is there a deadline?
A: Enrollments are ongoing, on a "first come, first served" basis (provided a minimum score is reached), until the maximum number of people in the target group (341 students) is reached. At that moment registrations will be stopped and this aspect will be announced on the project website.
If I have participated in other entrepreneurship courses in the past, am I also eligible to participate in the StartUPT entrepreneurship training course?
A: You are only eligible to participate in the StartUPT entrepreneurship training course if you have not previously taken an entrepreneurship course co-financed by other structural funds. If you are not sure about this aspect, please send us details about the course followed, together with the diploma of participation, to the email address radu.vasiu@upt.ro, in order to receive an answer.
Some conclusions
Following the event, several conclusions could be drawn, including the fact that entrepreneurial development is a major point of interest for students, as evidenced by the high number of their presence both on the Zoom platform and on the other live broadcast channels of the event.
The usefulness of the emphasis on the added value offered by entrepreneurial skills in the labor market, which this type of project can bring to students, was noted, being considered an indispensable element in their development as entrepreneurs and not only.
Moreover, the high number of questions that were initiated by the participants during the event indicates a need to popularize and inform students about such initiatives and the need to create an innovative and sustainable framework, favorable to entrepreneurial development, in order to achieve the future objective : the establishment and creation of business jobs, with an emphasis on economic sectors in the direction of students.
What's next
Continue to inform the target group about the StartUPT project and selection of participants in entrepreneurial training courses, this being a mandatory step for participating in the next stages of the project.
