Polytechnic University of Timisoara through Multimedia Center organized the Student Contest on Friday, June 9, 2017 Interactive Digital Media Student Contest.
Now in its 4th edition, the Interactive Digital Media Student Contest is a student competition that aims to stimulate creativity and competitive spirit in the multimedia field. The contest is addressed to bachelor's, master's and doctoral students from universities in Romania and abroad. Students will have the opportunity to present their most interesting projects, but also to interact directly with representatives of the economic environment, possible employers of the participants. Starting with this edition, the contest was also open to high school students passionate about the development of multimedia applications.
At the competition, 20 projects developed by 25 high school students, bachelor's, master's and doctoral students from the Politehnica University of Timisoara, the University of the West, the Vasile Goldis University of Arad, the University of Novi Sad, Serbia, the Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy and from Grigore Moisil High School in Timisoara. The students presented the projects in front of a jury that brought together representatives of the economic environment and university teaching staff, benefiting from a direct interaction with experts in the field who also offered opinions regarding the further development of the applications, the possibilities of improvement or promotion in the economic environment .
The prizes were offered by AviTech (Wireless headphones), Cobalt Sign (Nexus5 Android phone), e-spres-oh (Keyboard and mouse 4 pcs), Movidius (HDD Intel), New Haircut (Playstation Sony), Oce Software (Tablet iPad ), SafeFleet (Samsung Android Phone).
Web Development - web applications, on a current topic, of any type and format
Development for mobile devices - mobile applications that use any computing architecture and for any platform
Audio-Video production / Audio-Video production – materials belonging to one of the genres of audio-video productions: videos, advertising spots, generic / promo / trailer, video animations, timelapse, special effects / tricks
Graphic Design - own productions of any graphic type: web banner, website template, infographic, poster, brochure / leaflet, cover, visual identity elements, processed digital images
Internet of Things / Internet of Things – the implementation of an IoT concept or device that combines hardware, software and data on a current topic (for example smart home, sensor network, robots, others)

The fourth edition of the Interactive Digital Media student contest was a valuable and motivating experience for the students and high school students involved, through the suggestions, recommendations and prizes offered by the partner companies. We are happy that this year, one of the most important prizes was won by students from the 10th and 12th grades from Grigore Moisil High School in Timisoara, with a web application of regional educational interest. I congratulate the winners and thank our partners for the prizes offered declared Prof. Dr. Eng. Radu Vasiu, Director of the Multimedia Center.
The Multimedia Research Center (founded in 1996), carries out educational, research and innovation activities in the context of information and communication technologies, being focused in recent years on interactive multimedia techniques and technologies, Smart Cities, Open Data, Augmented Reality, Entrepreneurship in ICT, ICT and multimedia promotion, advanced educational technologies, OER, MOOCs. The Multimedia Center carries out ICT entrepreneurship support activities (StartUp Weekend, HackTM, Hackathon, Meet-ups) and organizes the annual IDMSC International Digital Media Student Contest. The Multimedia Center supports educational specializations at the undergraduate level Telecommunications Technologies and Systems – Multimedia and master in Multimedia Technologies.
