Timisoara City Art is a project developed within the open cultural data hackathon that took place in Timi\u0219oara on April 18-19, 2015. This hackathon was the first event in Romania that facilitated the reuse of open cultural data. Developers, designers, artists and representatives of national cultural institutions were invited to develop applications and design platforms that reinvent the relationship between the public and works of art.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The event was organized by the Coalition for Open Data, the Department for Online Services and Design within the Government of Romania, the Multimedia Center of the Politehnica University of Timi\u0219oara, the West University of Timi\u0219oara, the Smart City Association, the Kosson Community, Open Knowledge Romania and the Timi\u0219oara City Hall.<\/p>\n

Timisoara City Art was proposed as a project for the hackathon by the Multimedia Center of the Politehnica University of Timi\u0219oara and was developed by a team of five students: Silviu Vert (coordinator and expert in augmented reality), Victor Holotescu and Aurel Chiper (Android developers) , Sorin Voina (graphic designer) and Daniela Ibrescu (text and photo editing). The open cultural data was provided by the Triade Foundation, a well-known organization in the cultural landscape of Timi\u0219oara, and consisted of 15 monuments or groups of monuments that are part of the public street art of Timi\u0219oara. Each monument contains information such as the title, the creator, the creator's biography, the year of creation, the material from which it is made, the description and the photo. The projects developed at the hackathon, including this one, contribute to the city's efforts in the race for the title of European Capital of Culture in 2021.<\/p>\n

The app is built for the Android system and works on OS versions equal to or higher than 5.0 Lollipop. The application benefits from a fresh and intuitive design that respects the guidelines of the Android operating system. The information is saved in a local database on the smartphone, so the app is also available to tourists without a mobile data plan.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
